As
Christians, we consider music to be one of God’s great gifts
to be used for the enrichment of our lives and for the
enhancement of our worship of God. It is our responsibility
as church musicians and parents, together with Bible study,
mission education, and worship education, to nurture
children in the Christian faith and in the expression of
that faith through the medium of music. With these basic
beliefs as a foundation, our philosophy can best be
described as child-centered, process-oriented, and
participation-based in contrast to adult-centered,
product-oriented, and performance-based.
-
We
believe in a child-centered approach to teaching church
music. Musical selections and activities are carefully
planned with concentration on the child’s developmental,
spiritual, and musical needs.
-
We
believe that if the weekly process of teaching is sound,
the learning will result in an authentic product.
-
We
believe in a participation-based curriculum rather than
a performance-based curriculum. The music brought into
worship will represent the public sharing of that which
is happening both musically and in areas of Christian
growth within the music group. It will be offered as
worship of God.
